Unauthentic: Adventures in VeVe #91

I think we should change the acronym 2FA to 2FO: Two Fing Often.

Okay, maybe I can see it resetting before a big VeVe drop. But what does VeVe have against me just trying to buy a two gem comic? I mean seriously, lately I could have been in the VeVe app for an hour browsing the market… just browsing. Then I dare to check and see if I have it or not and BOOM! Relog. We want to make sure you’re you before you put money into the app.

I can see doing it when I’m trying to take money out of the app. But why are you blocking me to the point that I get back and someone already picked up the mint I was looking at? Worse, I have to do it multiple times a day.

Check the VeVeVerse:  2FA.
Check StackR:  2FA.
Have an update without telling us what it’s for: 2FA.

Change Devices:  2FA.

And since I bounce between three devices, I brace myself every time I open the app.

The frequency isn’t the only thing that makes this process go against the grain. Because I’m also into crypto, which means every day I hear:

2FA IS NOT SAFE! YOUR EMAIL IS NOT SAFE! DON’T USE IT!

Oh no! My account isn’t safe! Someone’s going to steal my VeVe account and dump all 1,000 of my two-dollar comics on StackR!

Yeah, okay… not realistic.

But there’s this thing on Base where it gets mad if you try to transfer something without 2FA being on, but then you go to Coinbase and it’s like:

Danger! 2FA has been triggered! Turn it off or we will not protect you if you get hacked!

Stress level 10. Cortisol initiated!

Seriously, somebody save me from this contradiction and panic every time I have to open the app, especially since I think I have more six digit VeVe codes in my inbox than scam mails, okay? That’s saying something.

When even my banks and main accounts are telling me to use authenticators, device checks, and bios, I’m really wondering why we’re still doing this.

Even if there wasn’t a safety concern, it’s slow, disruptive, and it puts me in a bad mood. If VeVe kept 2FA, I wish we had more options to choose from when it comes to security. At the very least, it’d be nice if it didn't disrupt me when I’m trying to buy something.

Seriously, I’m trying to give you money here. Don’t you want my money, VeVe?

If you, like me, tend to check the app multiple times of day, I feel for ya.
