First thing’s first, but not necessarily in that order:
The last ten days were Fantastic.
If I made one mistake, it was that I Blinked, and I found myself living a lifetime in a week.
It’s as if VeVe was saying, “Let’s get a shift on, fam!”
Spending time at a convention really is a bit of a paradox. It’s all just stuff… happening at once.
People assume that time is a strict progression… but it’s actually more of a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff. Especially at conventions.
I met some friends Friday. We went out for a quick adventure, and were back for tea.
Then, we took a friend’s Bessie to DesignerCon’s VIP Night.
After a temporary Gridlock in line, we went into a showroom that looked much bigger on the inside.
There were a lot of Toymakers inside.
Often there were art pieces that were divorced from its function and seen purely as a piece of art.
Many were exquisite.
Then we walked around like Dizzy Daleks taking it all in while meeting new friends and old friends and checking in on different artists we knew.
At the end, we split the party, with some going to the VeVe 5th Anniversary party while others went to recharge their tin dogs.
Saturday was filled with more walking, running, and secret drops. Oh, I love surprises! Come on, come on, come on! This is where things get complicated.
Saturday was also filled with rain, and thankfully LP brought his umbrella. It even rained during Kid’s Afterparty, where we all gathered for an art show and lots of guest stars and cameo appearances.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all… there’s more to do, because Sunday there were a lot of artist signings and panels to attend.
The panel moderator was a Master, with monologues that thwarted the fam’s inward hopes that David Yu would speak long enough to let us in on future plot points.
With the convention over, many got into their time machines; some going backward in time, while others went forward, landing before they had left.
While my social media streams were filled with my friends declaring, “I’m getting a cold! That’s not fair.”
Anywho, that was just the first episode of the serial.
Because on Wednesday, Omi-to-Gem went live and Gems officially became an ‘in-app currency’.
I set up a little test to see how Omi-to-Gems work. All I needed to do was reverse the polarity and then… success! I have more Gems!
I used it to get some more Noggles now that things had calmed down a bit. Oh, I love a good pair of specs. I wear glasses now. Glasses are cool.
We began to see more legacy characters checking in to see VeVe and Ecomi’s progress, as well as plenty of new extras that may develop into recurring characters.
Ironically, Rome is burning outside, while inside we have plenty of people helping to steady the ship.
If you’re worried, do what I do. Hold on tight and pretend it’s a plan.
And yes, I admit that I don’t know the future, I just work there.
Just remember that a straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.
And don’t forget Rule 27: Never knowingly be serious.
There’s always something coming… always.
There’s always something lurking in the deep.
Is that a Macra? Or a Kraken?
There’s a gobful of space-time energy coming. Best get ready!
Allons-y!
